Anansi the Spider by Gerald McDermott
Anansi the spider had six sons and each had a special power. Anansi got into some trouble and his six sons saved him. When they got home Anansi found a light in the forest; he wanted to give the light to the son that saved him. But which one would he give it to? Anansi asked Nyame, the god of all things, to help him decide. Anansi and Nyame couldn’t come to an agreement so Anansi came up with a better idea.

Apples to Oregon By Deborah Hopkinson
Her dad loved to grow apples and when they moved from Iowa to Oregon her father didn’t want to leave the apples trees behind so he built two big boxes. Along with the apple her father took plenty of other fruit. This book then talks about their journey across the plains. Once they got to their destination her father planted his trees in the Oregon dirt. Lastly the fruit made them wealthy and her father was proud of her bravery and brought her a pair of new boots.

This was about a dusty girl who runs away from her mother and travels to the three bear’s house. When she gets there she eats there beans, after tasting all three the baby bears was just right and then she sits in the chairs and the babies chair was comfortable but she broke it and then she tries there bed and fall fast asleep. The bears come back in and she wakes up and run out fast and goes back to her mother.

The Gift is a story about friendships and giving to others. In this story the “Fish women” invited Jimmy to go fishing but this was not just fishing he was going Salmon fishing. Jimmy had his doubt because he believed that all fishing women were mean and evil but he ended up being happy that he didn’t turn down that opportunity. He met a real good friend.

The orphan is a Greek version of Cinderella. She lost her mother but in this story her relationship with her was much stronger. Instead of meeting her prince at a ball she meets him at a church. She loses her shoe there because he tried to trap her by making the threshold sticky.

This story is about a demon that created a mirror that when you look through it you see everything as being ugly. The mirror feel on the earth and if it was to shattered in your eye you see everything to be ugly or if it feel into your heart you would become cold hearted and mean. There was a boy who got the mirror shattered in his heart and eyes. At the end of the story the snow queen find the boy from being lost from his sister and cures him.

This story was about the three pigs who built their houses out of straw, Sticks and bricks but this story has a twist to it.
